Dr. Frank Amato, DC, DABCO
Diplomate of the American Board of Chiropractic Orthopedists®
Dr. Frank Amato has over 30 years of experience treating spine and extremity injuries with a focus on restoring efficient movement. His approach targets the root cause of neuro-musculoskeletal issues, emphasizing early detection, patient education, and functional reset. By equipping patients with tools for self-management, he helps them recover faster, move better, and reduce the risk of future injury.
Doctor Amato received his undergraduate education at the University of Wyoming before earning his doctorate from the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic in 1989. He went on to complete a rigorous three-year postgraduate program in chiropractic orthopedics, becoming a Diplomate of the American Board of Chiropractic Orthopedists (DABCO)—a rare and respected credential held by less than 1% of chiropractors. In 1999, he became one of the first certified Active Release Techniques™ (A.R.T.) providers in Los Angeles. His expertise includes conditions involving the spine, extremities, and nerve entrapments.
His work integrates manual therapy, corrective exercises, and patient education to help individuals become more independent from care while addressing the root causes of nerve, muscle, joint, and fascial issues — a philosophy inspired by his own passion for training and golf.
Dr. Amato is a certified OnBaseU professional, trained to assess how physical limitations affect the mechanics of throwing and hitting in baseball and softball. This specialized certification complements his orthopedic and soft tissue expertise, allowing him to offer rotational athletes—from youth to professional—targeted strategies to improve performance and reduce injury risk.
He is certified in the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA Levels 1 & 2)—a diagnostic system that helps pinpoint dysfunctions in movement patterns contributing to pain—and incorporates Stick Mobility, a training method that combines joint mobilization, active stretching, and strength work using flexible tools to improve control, range, and durability.
With extensive experience working with amateur, world-class, Olympic, and professional athletes — including those in AVP, MLB, NHL, NFL, and MLS — Dr. Amato has served on the medical staff at many sporting events and on the medical board of the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP). His broad expertise allows him to address the unique demands of high-level competition, helping athletes recover faster, move more efficiently, and perform at their best.
“Without the experience, dedication and expertise of Frank Amato there is NO Way I would have been ready to compete in the Beijing Olympics.” – Kerri Walsh
